Mormon Books provide a treasure of testimonies that parallel Biblical teachings.  Prophets of God always teach the same on the same subject; but, each offers a new perspective that makes the word of God easier to understand as generations change.  They provide insight into the living God of Israel and our Savior Jesus Christ, of the gospel of Christ, divine priesthood, the everlasting covenant, and a wealth of spiritual guidance.  The Bible is accepted as Scripture and is used both for discussions among Mormons and non-Mormons.

An Order Form for all the current restored documents and publications of Samuel E. West is found at the bottom of this page.

Scripture

The BibleThe King James Version is accepted as the common reference edition.  Other editions are often used to aid in understanding various quotations.

The Book of Mormon.  Originally published in Palmyra, New York, in 1830.  The third American edition of 1840, was the last authorized edition by Joseph Smith.  Availability unknown.  More recent editions are available from most Mormon book stores.

Doctrine and Covenants.  Originally published in 1835, in Kirtland, Ohio.  That is the only edition that was approved by the Presidency, High Council, and General Assembly.  It consisted of two parts:  (1) Lectures on Doctrine by Joseph Smith, and (2) Covenants and Commandments.  A new typeset, hardback, edition (2000) is available from Samuel E. West for $20.00 (plus $4 shipping).  Three changes were made to the original 1835 Edition:  (1) sections from the 1846 Nauvoo edition were included, (2) sections in the commandments were organized to agree with the 1876, Salt Lake City Edition, (3) verse numbers from the Salt Lake City edition were included.  The original paragraph format was retained.  Click here to purchase this book.

Book of the Law of the Lord.  This most important book of ancient Scripture was lost for almost 3,000 years; until translated by James J. Strang from a public copy used by the Jews before their captivity into Babylon.  It is mentioned by name over twenty times in the Bible.  The Jews considered it too holy to fall into the hands of the Babylonians.  Originally published in 1851, on Beaver Island, Michigan.  The second edition was published in 1856, on Beaver Island, Michigan; and includes notes by James J. Strang.  336 pages.  James J. Strang wrote of this book, "But of all the lost books the most important was the Book of the Law of the Lord.  This was kept in the ark of the covenant, and was held too sacred to go into the hands of strangers.  When the Septuagint translation was made, the Book of the Law was kept back, and the Book lost to the Jewish nation in the time that they were subject to foreign powers.  The various books in the Pentateuch, containing abstracts of some of the laws, have been read instead of it, until even the existence of the book has come to be a matter of doubt.  It is from an authorized copy of that book, written on metallick plates long previous to the Babylonish captivity, that this translation is made."  It includes the only surviving copy of the Ten Commandments; which were given to Moses.  Click Here to read this book.

In 1948 the book was reprinted.  It measured only 3 3/4 by 5 3/4 inches.  Its availability is unknown.  A new edition by Samuel E. West in 2000 makes this most holy book again available.  It is in modern type and measures 4 by 7 inches.  It is a word for word, line for line, and page for page duplicate of the original 1856 edition.  Click Here to purchase this book.
