Kingdom of God - Africa

The true restored Kingdom of God began in Africa when Stephen Munyora was ordained an Elder by Elder Samuel E. West.  Since April 23, 2005, the kingdom has grown to over 600 true Latter Day Saints.

CHILDREN’S HOME

Who is there without compassion for little children?  “14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 19)  If we fail to care for these little ones, it is like doing it to Jesus.  There are millions of little children that have been left without parents due to the tribal and political wars and because many parents have died of AIDS.  The little children are the hope of the next generation.  Your help would help save the little children from starvation and decease.  You would lay up treasures for yourself in heaven.

Elder Stephen’s wife, Rose, was the operator of a children’s home when he entered the kingdom on April 23, 2005 .  Rose has given of herself to try and provide for these many children.  There is a major problem with witchcraft in Africa .  Rose feared greatly for the spiritual welfare of the children and with help made the children’s home part of the church and Kingdom of God of Latter Day Saints in Nairobi .

On November 29, 2005 , Stephen wrote, “For the last two days, we have been with Elder Francis and Rose, trying to have some issues worked out. I have visitors who are coming to see the children’s home.  Rose, and some other nineteen people, has born that vision of the children’s home. But, because of some heresy and the difference between them as far as faith is concerned, and it is through this home I have been able to reach millions with the true gospel I share in the media, it has become our prayer that we relocate the children. At least we know which gospel this children should be taught.” Below is a picture of the children.

On November 30, he wrote, “The big problem with the Children's home is that most of the workers there are from a sectarian religious background and I am concerned by the way they are misleading these innocent children with their bad doctrine. We have discovered a lot of hypocrisy and that is becoming a burden to Rose.  Three of the donors that help the support of that school has come through my introduction, and due to nothing else we have the power of having this home under the control of our church so that we may know who are suppose to speak to the children and they will teach the proper doctrine. I so not want to misuse this chance of finances that can be used even in the help of the saints here for meeting places and a library that can have freedom of everyone to access.

Most of the children are orphans left after the death of parents and others are less privileged which I am to attach a copy of the information bulletin sent to donors. Most of the people who sponsor such homes are non governmental organizations; others are from the publicity in the media which I have an access.”

On December 23, Rose wrote, “I would also like to let you know that yesterday we succeeded in having all done concerning my children's home. I believe Stephen informed you that I was to leave the Grace Home and now I have mine called Kenya Kids affiliated with Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yesterday I was issued with a certificate by the Vice President and promised he will be the one to do the official opening. I worship God for that. I know you have a serious commitment towards the church openings in Africa ; but when you go out (like to Colorado and Arizona ), and you happen to have chances, please I would like to ask you to share the needs of this home to your friends. I have a project of purchasing a place they can call home and I believe all will be well.”

Elder James Mubiru has been trying to establish an agricultural farm where the children could raise their own food and provide for much of their support.  Although he has the land, he lacks the facilities for the children to live.

On March 31, 2006 , he wrote to me, “I greatly appreciate all your possible support during my missionary labors including my fellow Elders laboring with me here in Uganda . Here in Africa , many people live in absolute poverty whereby without the support and aid from developed countries, people would starve to death! Almost all the African countries have corrupt governments which greatly affects the economical growth of our countries. It would be very hard for someone who has never stepped a foot on African soil to witness and know how the African people suffer and struggle for their survival. I have ever witnessed a child of 12yrs. of age acting both as a father and a mother and going through what I may term as ‘child labor’ in order to earn a living. That is why as religious leaders introducing ‘new religions’ as people here term them, we are frequently asked by the government officers and civil authorities what plan projects that we have projects to improve the welfare of our fellow citizens—apart from the spiritual part of it. This is a great concern here in Uganda before any religious organization gets legally approved and registered in our country. Regarding this matter, I had planned to set up some agricultural projects including poultry for the welfare of the saints living here in Uganda. I already have land where I can set up these projects but I lack enough capital to begin the project. This is the planned project I had thought of to help my fellow saints here living in poverty. Please, I look forward to hearing from you regarding this important factor for the easy registration of the church here in Uganda.

“My wife, Allen and I have done the best of our ability to sacrifice the little we have for the progress of God's Kingdom here in Uganda many years back referred to as ‘Pearl of Africa’ but currently seeming to be the ‘Pearl of Poverty!’ "

UGANDA

On August 19, 2005 , I received an email from James Mubiru in Uganda.  James was the first person in Uganda to accept the Utah LDS church.  He was later ordained an elder by them and became a missionary.  Then God led him to the true restored priesthood.  “We always imagine the greatest joy we shall have after receiving true baptism and the establishment of the true restored church and learning all the revealed gospel doctrine from Prophet Joseph Smith to his true successor James Strang.

“May our merciful loving Father in heaven bless you in every way. Please, we would be very grateful if there is a possibility to get in touch with some church members there in the United States who can always send us strengthening messages using my email address. We will really be glad for that. May God bless you in every way.”

I answered James and he responded, “I was so glad to hear from you and most delighted with the news that there are other groups of the original LDS church here in Africa . That is wonderful and it would be very easy to correspond with some of them who would be interested in strengthening our new group here in Uganda .  You know that we are anxiously waiting for baptism and other restored gospel doctrine which was not yet revealed to us especially teachings of the true successor of Prophet Joseph Smith, James Strang. I am so glad that I received inspirations from the Lord to share some of the teachings of the original LDS church which I studied from the church's official website and good enough. I managed to get more than 90 people now ready to be baptized when time comes for the original church to be introduced here in Uganda in time to come. Please, Elder West, I will be so glad to get any possible help from you so that the Lord's true restored church can be introduced here in Uganda . What we are waiting for is true baptism, true priesthood and true restored gospel doctrine pertaining to our salvation and exaltation.”

“Please Elder West, thank you for all your possible help to see that I receive baptism including my whole group and above all my wife who was at first also in the Utah Mormon church. We got married immediately after serving as full time missionaries for the above church and I testify to you that it was God's divine plan for us to decide to change our path to eternity by being willing to follow the teachings of the original LDS church leaving all the friends we have been associating with in our previous faith before seeing the light. It is our great hope and faith that our merciful father in heaven may provide any quick possible way for us to be part of His true restored church. All along I have been searching the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon including Doctrine and Covenants ( Utah edition), since 1993.  More than a decade now and I felt that some thing was still missing until when the Lord directed me to the church's official website to find the truth. I had to share it with my close friends who also accepted it. It is such a marvelous experience I have gone through so far and I truly know that I have found the truth regarding God's plan for His obedient children.”

I wrote to Stephen and advised him concerning those in Uganda that were seeking to become a part of the original true restored church. On September 21, Stephen wrote to James, Dear Sir, Warm greetings,

“The greatest duty we owe to ourselves and our families in this mortal life is to know God, understand His will, and secure our salvation in eternity. We all lived together as spirits before living in this mortal flesh. Our works during this first estate determined spiritual opportunities now.

“In that case the brethren in Kenya and in America cannot participate or become a stumbling block towards your baptism and confirmation to the Kingdom of God . We cannot afford to loose you and at the end of the day we become answerable towards your life.

“The gate to enter to the Kingdom of God is open and at hand.  We sing praises whenever we find one interested and determined to use this opportunity wisely, before the hour of grace comes to an end and your life is filled with regrets. There are shepherds all over the world who do not spare the flock, teaching false doctrine interested on material gains, but what pleases me most is to know that one day the great shepherd will come, them that lead his flock contrary to his call, will be filled with the wrath of God, and them that taught them to enter through the narrow gate will be appreciated by Him [great shepherd] in the presence of angels in Zion. I hope you have ever thought of it [He is a consuming fire].

“Saints of God are the temple of God.  As a people we are a city that is not built with hands.  After being cleansed by baptism of water, and receiving the Holy Spirit, we must keep this temple clean.  That is, we must live according to the will of God.  If we want to go with Jesus, we must walk the same path.  There will be a great temple in New Jerusalem and in Jerusalem.

“Woe, what an opportunity you have to choose to enter to the Kingdom of God and become a member of the church of the firstborn.  Flee from the wrath of God while the chance and the gate remain open.”

James responded to Stephen on September 24, “Dear Elder Munyora,

“I am very glad to hear from you. Please, warm regards from the other group members. We are really grateful and most delighted to know that what we have been prayerfully yearning for a long time has been granted unto us by our loving father in heaven. What a great opportunity and blessing we have to join the Lord's true church through baptism and confirmation! The Holy Ghost manifests and confirms to me that I have wisely chosen the right path after many years of being spiritually blinded by men's precepts.  I am so grateful that I have seen the light! That is why I had a strong desire to share this true restored gospel with other interested people and I don't regret the decision I have made and I don't have to boast but to praise and give glory to the Father of our spirits who is always merciful and kind to His faithful children. And I truly believe that there is opposition in all things; but what we have to do is to take the right  regardless of Satan's influence in opposing the Lord's great plan of happiness to all those who accepted to follow Jesus Christ during the pre-mortal council with our Father in heaven before our mortal life here on earth.

“Well, I am grateful for Elder Samuel E. West's great teachings and his words of exaltation so that all those with a broken heart and contrite spirit may repent of their sins, be baptized and receive the holy ghost as they join the Lord's true restored church with true priesthood used in performing ordinances pertaining to our salvation and exaltation. May our merciful father in heaven bless him in his divine work of gathering the faithful from this corrupt world as we await for the Lord's second coming.

“Please Elder Munyora, thank you for the great work you are doing in serving the Lord. I know that there is no greater call than that you are fulfilling in seeing that true restored gospel is preached in this part of the world and we look forward to warmly receiving with you here in Uganda.

“Regarding our days of gospel meetings, we always meet on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon . We honor the Lord's Day (true day of Sabbath). I will also try to call you using the phone number you sent me.”

When James learned of Elders Stephen and Peter booking a bus to Kampala, he wrote me on September 28, “I am so delighted for your wonderful messages. I am greatly grateful and most delighted with the news that I am going to be ordained an Elder after my baptism and confirmation by Elder Munyora. This reminds me of a scripture in 1 Cor. 1:26-28 which truly testify that not many are called in such a divine holy calling.

“Please, I have just received an email from Elder Stephen Munyora telling me that he has already booked a bus to Kampala , Uganda , and he has arranged to arrive next Friday (my calendar shows that it will be on 7th 0ctober). We are praying for his safe arrival here in Uganda. Please, let me stop here at the moment and I will communicate to you any time soon and I will send all the details regarding my immediate needs for the Lord's work including our baptism arrangement.”

When Stephen and Peter arrived in Kampala, Stephen baptized James and his brother Samuel on October 7. On October 9, he baptized sixteen grownups and five children over the age of eight, ordained James an Elder, united James and his wife Allen by the power of the holy Melchisedec Priesthood, and adopted their child to them.  This was the beginning of a great work that continues in Uganda.

Elder James opened a branch near Entebbe, Uganda; where he conducted holy Sabbath convocations in a school building one of the saints owned.

On November 17, James wrote to me, “Since I joined this church I can come on counting various places I encountered with God and still have a good record that has comforted me in this field of battle. Isaiah prophesied of young men becoming weary and faint but he said to them that wait upon the Lord He will renew their strength.  They will climb up like eagles and run like deer and they will never faint. I now need to apply a lot of faith towards that because I need it to continue. But all the same nothing can separate me from the Love of God, neither the present, or the future.”

Elder James in Uganda wrote on November 19, “Dear mum and dad we had a wonderful Sabbath meeting this morning and the attendance was good. Among those in attendance was a great friend of mine by the name of Samuel Muzaale living at Kapala. I once served with him during my mission for the Utah Mormon Church back in 1999. When he heard about me leaving that church he thought I had gone crazy; because I had been one of the pioneers in Uganda and how could I do such a thing! He said that to me early this year to make the story short at least he has accepted to have gospel discussions with me and after that he will get baptized. What a great blessing.”

On November 21, he wrote, “I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please, tell mum that I enjoy her text messages. Allen also sends her warm regards to you and we are so glad that Bill is in good condition now after recovering from Malaria fever. Please, dad and mum we greatly appreciate all your love and care. It was such a wonderful church service we had last Sabbath and the attendance was good (68) and among those in attendance was a friend of mine by the name of Samuel Muzaale.

“Please dad, I truly believe that this is the Lord's work and the Holy Priesthood I now hold is real!

“Dad, thank you for having delivered me from the usurpers and now I know their dirty tricks. Also I have great faith that I will be able to withstand the Brighamites with God's help. Samuel Muzaale lives at Kampala and I will be meeting him for more gospel discussions and my joy is beyond comprehension after him accepting baptism. This is a great blessing.”

On November 23, James wrote, “Dear mum and dad I am always so delighted to receive wonderful messages from you. Please, thank you. My younger brother Samuel and I are so glad for the new mountain bikes. It is now very easy for us to travel to different areas preaching the true restored gospel.

On November 26, he wrote, “Please, mum and dad, the good news I have for you is that we have had a wonderful church service. The attendance was 68. Also I am so thrilled to text you that my former Brighamite church companion, Samuel Muzaale, is going to get baptized in two hours time from now!! What a great blessing.”

“Dear mum and dad it is a great blessing for us to have another Elder, Samuel Muzaale being called of God to preach the true restored gospel in Kapala and I’m greatly honored to hold the true holy Melchisedec Priesthood of God and also having a privilege of confirming the true priesthood powers to others. I know that two more branches will be opened up in Kapala and Mukono District.”

On November 29, James wrote, “Please, thank you for the wonderful, inspiring church doctrinal messages. I am learning a lot in addition to the great knowledge I'm getting from the first two books you sent me. I am also very grateful that my young family is greatly blessed since Allen and I became converted to the true restored church. In fact the Brighamites are misleading many souls but I have great faith that I will rescue some of the spiritually blinded souls unto this marvelous light with God's help. Please dad, I want to let you know that several Brighamites have tried to persuade me go back to their false doctrines because they know that there several people who will leave their church after getting to know about the true restored gospel teachings I'm spreading here in Uganda. I am now very aware of their dirty tricks and I truly know that Prophet James J. Strang was the true successor (not Brigham Young) after the martyrdom of Prophet Joseph Smith. Please dad, I lack words to describe my sincere appreciation for your great efforts to show me the truth regarding the true restored church. May our merciful Father bless you and mum in all ways. I promise to sacrifice every thing I have to build the Lord's Kingdom here in Uganda and also any other place where the Lord would need me to go for missionary work. My wife, Allen and I think of you and mum and always pray for you.”

On December 2, James wrote, “There will be some baptisms on the 17th this month (22 people, 13 staying at Kapala and 9 staying at Mukono).”

On December 11, he wrote, “Please mum and dad, I have just received an urgent phone call from a friend of mine (a Brighamite sister turned missionary) who lives at Mukono. I had already shared with her regarding this marvelous true restored gospel and she seems interested in having what she termed as ‘new restored gospel doctrine.’ She said that she has been having trouble with sleepless nights and that I have to travel there this evening so that I may know her final conclusion regarding baptism.”

“Please I am already in Irene’s home. She stays with her brother called Michael, also a returned missionary. Both served in South Africa.”

“Please mum and dad I am through with Sister Irene. The wonderful news I have for you is that Irene has at last accepted baptism!! What a great blessing!! We have already had a closing prayer and I am now on my way to meet another friend of mine called John also living in Mukono. He is among those to get baptized this coming Sabbath, 17th.”

“They [Brighamites] are trying to persuade Allen and me to go back to their false doctrines; but we are very firm and we can't be deviated from this marvelous true restored gospel we have already received. My faith is becoming stronger and stronger each day and I prayerfully find several ways of expanding this true restored church and please dad, I greatly appreciate all your possible support for the progress of the church here in Uganda. Please, thank you.”

On December 14, James wrote, “I am currently very busy preparing and organizing the upcoming events of 17th and 18th; and I have planned to travel to Mukono district to brief those ready for baptism and after that I have to do the same to those living in Kampala with Elder Samuel Muzaale and all will be traveling to come and have a holy convocation with us and then baptisms and other ordinances will be performed with the help of Elders Samuel Mukisa, my younger brother, and Elder Samuel Muzaale proselyting in Kampala. My goal is to setup two additional branches ( Kampala and Mukono).” James had already established a branch near Entebbe.

On December 17, he wrote, “We are through with baptisms and are traveling back for the confirmation of twenty-three people; and I am being assisted by Elders Samuel Mukisa, my younger brother, and Samuel Muzaale. Love Elder James, your son.”

On December 19, James wrote, “Allen and I are so grateful for this True Restored Gospel revealed to us by our merciful heavenly Father and above all for having paved a way for us to escape the man made Brighamite false doctrines. We strongly believe that all this had been for-planned by God for a very special divine purpose. Please, dad and mum, we greatly appreciate all your possible support in order for the Lord's Kingdom to expand here in Uganda.

“Well, for the past two days (17th and 18th), the Lord has been with us regardless of Satan's fiery darts to disrupt the Lord's work; and 23 people were baptized and confirmed with the help of Elders Samuel Mukisa and Samuel Muzaale. Then yesterday on the 18th, we had a marvelous branch social/Church Literature display and the attendance was beyond our expectations! We had expected to have approx. 150 people but amazingly 176 people turned up during the Branch Social and that signified that such an event if well planned in other areas like Kampala and Mukono could enable us have more people in our Gospel teaching pool.”

On December 21, he wrote, “Please mum and dad I have a plan to have a get together wholesome party for the young kids on the 25th December (not celebrating Xmas, because it is a pagan festival and not part of the Lord’s true restored gospel); but to make these young kids not feel bored seeing their fellow kids celebrating and having fun on the pagan Xmas day. Please, I request you to advise me on this matter. Thank you; love Elder James your son. Please the adult now understand why celebrating Xmas is a false man made pagan practice.”

On December 29, James was afflicted by cerebral malaria—generally a fatal decease.  He wrote, “Yes mum and dad I am almost in a coma. Other Elders administered to me and anointed me with oil.  I can’t let them take me to the hospital without your consent. [I text messaged him to go to the hospital immediately] Please I lack air time. Satan can’t win this game. Allen and Bill are also frightened. Some say it may be cerebral malaria. I cannot continue in this mess.”

Giving additional priesthood blessing and I am already admitted to one of hospitals here at Kajjansi. Our small family business is at a stand still.”

I am currently put on a water drip here at Kajjansi while at hospital and receiving some injections. My younger brother Elder Samuel has administered to me.”

On January 1, 2006 , James wrote, “Dear mum and dad, I was attacked by cerebral malaria (it is a deadly decease which affects the brain and can make the victim run mad). It was Friday night when I was suddenly attacked by this dreadful decease including high body temperature, headache, and general body weakness. Allen did her level best to treat me by taking some anti-malarial tablets plus some pain killers and there was a slight change until the following day Sabbath morning I couldn’t wake up.”

“Dear mum and dad, I am still admitted in the whole of last evening. I was almost unconscious and I couldn’t walk.”

“I give all my thanks and praise to our loving and merciful heavenly Father to let me accomplish this divine work whenever He would want me to labor in His vineyard. I am not dead. The Almighty still needs me in mortality. This sacred holy Melchisedec Priesthood is indescribable regarding its reality.”

“Please, mum and dad, I am going through what I may term as a gradual recovery. I am truly witnessed what I call steep edges of death. I have never experienced that before. My fellow saints walked long distance to come and visit me in the hospital and I saw tears in their eyes flowing down their cheeks. I am so thrilled to regain the eating appetite unlike the past days.  Please mum and dad, I am feeling better now and I am still at the hospital. Please mum and dad, Allen and Bill have also just arrived to see my health condition.”

On January 2, James was released from the hospital. “Now Allen and Bill are leaving the hospital back home before it gets late and they are going to hire a taxi. It is not far to reach our apartment. My younger brother Samuel has also just arrived to nurse me where needed in addition to the doctor’s medical treatment.”

On January 4, he wrote, “I am regained strength now and Allen has to prepare a big meal to satisfy me (I can now consume a meal meant for two people). So that sounds interesting. I have also resumed missionary work straight away and I am very much aware that the adversary and his servants are not well pleased with what I am currently doing here in Uganda .”

On January 5, he wrote, “Last evening I reported back to the hospital as I had been told by the doctor to check my current health situation. I was advised by the doctor to have bed rest for a couple of weeks while taking extra fluids. I was also prompted by the Spirit to share this true restored gospel with some of the medical staff at the hospital including the doctor himself; and I am so glad to tell you that he accepted some church literature and told me that he needs me to visit his family some day after a two week home bed rest.”

On January 14, he wrote, “Other saints in Uganda are doing well and this Sabbath we had a wonderful service and I have got many teaching appointments beginning next week and I have planned to have more baptisms late this month (Saturday 28th, after holy convocation). Most of these people are living in Kampala and Mukono and I'm being assisted by my younger brother, Samuel, including Elder Samuel Muzaale laboring in Kampala. My major challenge is transportation though I had tried to save the little I could before being attacked by cerebral malaria. I truly know that the adversary is doing his best to disrupt the Lord's work here in Uganda but I strongly believe and know that our merciful Heavenly Father will always deliver me from the enemy.”

On January 18, he wrote, “I am also planning to have more baptisms (15 people) on 28th this month and I will be traveling to Mukono this coming Friday to have the remaining gospel discussions with them before their baptism.”

On January 25, James wrote, “Please, I want to let you know that I greatly appreciate all your love, support and care and Allen and I really know how hard sometimes it can be especially in laying a firm foundation for the Lord's true church here in Africa where many people live in poverty and I have done my level best to teach them the law of tithing (law of consecration). Allen and I have strong faith that the Lord's True Restored Church will continue to grow here in Uganda and Africa in general and that is why we have decided to shift permanently to Mukono for further expansion of the church. Mukono is where I was introduced to the Brighamites by Christopher Mugimu way back in 1993; and in 1999 I received a mission call from Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley (Brighamite current prophet) to serve a Brighamite church mission in Kenya until when I completed the mission. I had several friends living in Utah and they had planned to sponsor me to have my University studies at Brigham Young University with the help of Christopher Mugimu; but I had to turn down their offer because the spirit testified to me that there was another greater mission the Lord had for me.”

On January 31, James wrote, “Allen and I are currently very busy as we finalize with our preparation to shift permanently to Mukono on 5th Feb., this coming Sunday (not on 4th). Allen and I know that it is God's plan for us to permanently shift there including our family business. There are several saints, newly baptized living in Mukono who currently lack an Elder to minister and strengthen them. The Brighamites also have a church there and so it is my obligation to be as a watch tower to see that the Brighamites don't attempt to disrupt the newly baptized saints in Mukono.

“My younger brother, Elder Samuel Mukisa, will be responsible for Entebbe area and also Elder Samuel Muzaale will continue with his missionary labors in Kampala area. Then I will be doing my missionary labors in Mukono. My younger brother, Elder Samuel, will be assisted by a newly ordained Elder by the name of Bisasso Frank (whom I strongly felt in the spirit to be ordained an Elder last Sabbath).”

On February 25, he wrote, “We are on the way to the baptism site while the rest continue with evening service.”

“Mum we have baptized fourteen men. We are waiting twenty-three women to change.”

“Please we shall be shifting to Mukono on Tuesday 28th.”

On February 28, he wrote, “We are so glad to tell you that we are already in Mukono and we reached safely. We are still very busy arranging our new apartment and will communicate later.”

On March 1, he wrote, “what we are accomplishing today is resetting our small family business for our daily living. Then tomorrow I will resume my missionary labors in Mukono area. I already have 6 people confirmed for baptism on 11th March and what I urgently need is to buy one metallic baptism font and put it at my new apartment before Saturday, 11th and the other baptism fonts for both Kampala and Entebbe will be bought later before the end of this month.”

On March 11, he wrote, “Dear mum and dad I am so grateful to tell you that all the six people have been baptized and confirmed and our current total number in Mukono Branch is 34. God’s kingdom will continue to grow.”

On March 14, James wrote, “Dear mum and dad greetings. I went to a nearby hospital today for a medical checkup. I was advised by the doctor to avoid excessive heat exposure from the sun which I have all along doing during my missionary labors, knocking from door to door. What I have to do is to purchase a mountain bike with a helmet to cover my head. I left the other bike with my younger brother Elder Samuel Mukisa and his assistant Elder Frank Bisasso. The doctor has also advised me to take a lot of fluids in order to avoid dehydration as I move during my missionary labor.”

On March 21, he wrote, “I am still a bit due to the mild fever I developed and I have got some treatment from a nearby hospital. The doctor has advised me not to move too much in the hot sunshine instead use easy means of transport and so I have also planned to purchase a mountain bike for Mukono missionary work. God bless you.”

On March 25, James wrote, “We had a wonderful Sabbath meeting here in Mukono where the attendance was 42. The Lord’s church will continue to grow and expand.”

On March 27, he wrote, “I have just finished the purchase and transport of the baptismal font with the help of Elder Muzaale to his apartment in Kampala and right now I am on my way back to Mukono.”

On March 28, he wrote, I have already purchased it [Entebbe baptismal font] and transported it to the school where they meet every Sabbath and Elder Samuel Mukisa has assisted me.”

On March 31, he wrote, “I'm so grateful to tell you that all the three areas; Entebbe, Kampala and Mukono will have baptisms and the total number of people confirmed and ready for baptism is as follows:

    ENTEBBE AREA-12
   “
KAMPALA AREA-9
   “MUKONO AREA-12

“Totaling 33 people in the three areas.”

BOTSWANA

On May 31, 2005 , Stephen wrote concerning a lady in Botswana who was in the Nazareth Hospital dying of AIDS.  She pleaded with Stephen to travel to Botswana and baptize her before she died. He wrote, “The purpose of my going to Botswana is not only because of Rebekkah but this will open a door to the Kingdom to people in Botswana. I believe I will not only meet her but also several others and I will be working on my crown in eternity.” Stephen flew to Botswana and baptized her and her son.  Two weeks later her son called Stephen and told him that he had taken his mother to three different clinics and she was AIDS free. Dear Dad and Elder Samuel. I have received news that I cannot even imagine.  Can you understand that Johnson’s Mother is back home and after three tests in different hospitals, Johnson is saying ‘mother confirmed negative.’ This is what they are confessing and I have faith in God that it is very possible. A person in bed admitted for AIDS and after baptism you hear of such news it is really God’s doing.”

Elder Paul Kenyanjui, his wife Rose, and their son later left for a mission in Botswana and South Africa. On November 21, Stephen wrote, “Paul has just called and, apart from other activities, Paul baptized 23 mature people.”

At last count there were forty-five saints in Botswana.

DJIBOUTI

On January 5, Stephen wrote, “The other disturbing case is that of Lowell. He is calling me almost every day asking for their baptism.

“He has provided me with very long explanations to prove how insecure he is without the proper priesthood. ...Apostle Paul said he fought a good fight especially for the family of the Saints.  I hope the baptism of the Djibouti people is genuine to my understanding and if we can get the means, praise be to God, there will be a reward in eternity when the Chief Shepherd will be manifested. We understand that we shall give an account of every careless word we have ever uttered in life and that gives me a lot of concentration towards this for I will not desire to miss the mark.”

Stephen translated an email from Lowell in Djibouti; as they speak Swahili.  Receive greetings and the love of our Lord Jesus. We love you very much more than sands of the ocean. That is why every now and then we pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ asking Christ to protect and preserve you. We are very much in need of our baptism for I am having sleepless nights for I have a fear of dying the next minute. I am not certain whether you can understand when I mention that every night I feel as if anything may happen and I die; but whenever I wake up every morning alive I take as if that is a beloved time to receive the true Gospel of Christ.  It has come a time my wife and parents from both sides are asking me when the good news of salvation will get to our house because it will give an answer to many questions of our lives.

Please do not be silent for a time at this.  I recall you mentioned to me that you will discuss this with Samuel West concerning your coming and I am not sure whether you have informed him for we are anxiously waiting for the baptism.

We assure you that we shall have a good time with you for our Nation needs the presence of a priest for it will bring a tremendous change to our lives.  We have informed you of that, then it is your responsibility and God to unite us with him for our souls desire him as a deer desire streams of water is that much we need him in a time like this.

For those few words good bye and we are waiting with eagerness. Yours faithfully Lowell Mughisa.”

The best thing is to focus towards the achievement awaiting us when the race is over.
